January 20, 2024, was our first community volunteer event of the New Year at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook State Park. Every third Saturday of the month, Nature Nexus Institute and California State Parks Foundation work together to bring the community together for habitat restoration. Here at Nature Nexus Institute, we are lucky to have a team of wonderful volunteers without whom our work would not be possible. Our volunteers come from all sorts of backgrounds and a huge range of ages. I recently sat down and talked with Miss Emily Lamb. Emily is in 7th grade and has been engaged with the natural world her entire life. She is a regular fixture at our twice-monthly Open Wetlands public events and contributes so much to our program. Jefferson Park Zine Festival

On June 17th of this year, I was invited to be a participant in the library's first Zinefest. I and seven other local artists made and presented zines around the theme of "Our Los Angeles”. It was great to see the local community come together to celebrate art that celebrates the city around them.
