Jefferson Park Zine Festival

Here in Los Angeles, we are lucky to have a large number of Libraries. In high school, while I was a Greenhouse Intern, I would visit the Jefferson Vassie D. Wright Memorial Branch Library to do research or to read and relax.

On June 17th of this year, I was invited to be a participant in the library's first Zinefest. I and seven other local artists made and presented zines around the theme of "Our Los Angeles”. It was great to see the local community come together to celebrate art that celebrates the city around them. Everyone who attended was given a free copy of all eight zines as well as prizes which were raffled away. These included books and a “make your own zine” kit.

A special thanks to Eduardo Topete, for organizing the event.
