Conservation Studies
Conservation Studies is back again for the Spring 2023 semester, an 8-week hybrid course. The zoom class sessions are Wednesday evenings starting Wednesday, April 12th to Wednesday, May 31st, from 6 to 7:30 pm. There will be 3 Saturday in-person sessions at the Ballona Wetlands, Stoneview Nature Center, and Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook. Take this class to learn about the local natural history of Los Angeles and what wildlife we share Los Angeles with including invertebrates, mammals, reptiles, and birds. Students who complete VOC ED 222 and VOC ED 223 (summer) receive a certificate and become eligible to apply for paid seasonal positions with Nature Nexus Institute. In addition, students remain in our network and will be the first to hear about internships, free backpacking trips, and other fieldwork opportunities.
This course is free and open to WLAC students of all majors and to the surrounding community.
